Frequently Asked Questions

Can you really do a dustless repair?

Yes! The worst part about drywall is the dust, and it's bad for everyone. That's why we've taken great pains to figure out how to do the repair without suffering through the endless rain of harmful dust. We use a combination of specialty equipment, Hepa dust extracting drywall vacuums, to remove dust at it's source before it can transfer around the home. We also use special techniques to limit the amount that the drywall even has to be sanded! We've thought about the mess so that you don't have to.

Does all this cost extra?

Absolutely not! We believe in continuous improvement and have been working at streamlining our efficiency for more than 20 years. This effort has allowed us to provide extra value to customers at no extra cost!

I've already fixed the crack before, and it keeps coming back. why?

We see it all the time. As much as 3 layers of repair all on top of each other! Stop the insanity! The reason the crack keeps coming back is because the underlying cause has not been addressed in the repair. It can be complicated, and that's why so many other companies screw it up. The short answer is that you have to consider that the crack is merely the symptom of the problem. Drywall that is properly framed, properly hung, properly prefilled, properly taped, properly topped, properly textured, and properly considered in the big picture doesn't just crack on it's own. If it cracks, and especially keeps cracking, it's because one step in the process has not been properly considered.

(A quick side note: if you see mesh tape like they sell in the big box stores in the repair, it's your first sign of sure trouble to come.)

I want to paint it. What should i do?

Your repair is going to be more porous than the other, already painted surfaces around the repair and it will need to be sealed with a proper drywall sealing primer. We recommend Sherwin Williams Quick Dry because it works great, you don't have a long wait period before you can top coat, and it's been time tested (we use a lot of it)! DO NOT use "paint and primer in one" thinking that will do the trick, because it won't.

I don't want to paint it. Can you?

Yes! We've opened the patch and match painting division of Phoenix Fast Patch as a special offering to existing repair customers in order to assist them in streamlining the entire repair process. As a part of this service we will prime the repair (with Sherwin Williams Quick Dry, of course), match the existing color and sheen, and paint the area to blend in the repair.

Is the Paint match perfect?

It's impossible to guarantee a 100% match, 100% of the time. Paint is actually much more complicated than people think. Each manufacturer and/or grade of paint has a different formulation. Further, the same paint will be exposed to varying levels of UV fading based it's position in the home. But, we've thought about this a lot and have developed the best course of action with the highest likelihood for a seamless match. We can't guarantee 100%, but we can hit 99%.

If a true seamless repair is necessary with a 100% guarantee, then the process remains the same and we merely paint from corner to corner of the wall or ceiling. It's that simple.
